Bill Cosby, guilty of sexual assault, sentenced to 3 to 10 years in state prison

Bill Cosby, the once-revered comedian, actor, musician, author, and now convicted sex offender was today sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison.

In April 2018, Cosby who is legally blind and uses a cane, was found guilty of sexual assault by drugging and molesting  Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, in his Philadelphia home in 2004. He was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

In 2005, Constand sued Cosby and settled for nearly $3.4 million. In the deposition for that case, Cosby admitted to buying Quaaludes and giving women drugs and alcohol before sex. He also said, every interaction they had was consensual. Constand’s allegations are the only ones that brought a criminal case against Cosby. Many of the 60 women who came forward fell outside of the statute of limitations.
